Club Festivus ft. Bonobo (DJ Set), DJ Seinfeld, Barry Can't Swim and more
Coroglen Tavern
Tis the season.
December 28 will see the second-year return of the Coromandel’s electronic night out, CLUB FESTIVUS.
Come and enjoy some Coroglen Tavern hospitality, while dancing the night away to some of the world's best electronic dance acts. Class of 2022 features legendary performances from BONOBO (DJ SET), DJ SEINFELD, BARRY CAN'T SWIM, PRETTY GIRL and PEACH MILK. After launching in 2021 with esteemed local heroes Chaos in the CBD, expect another sold out dance around the festivus pole this silly season.
BONOBO (DJ SET)
One of the most legendary names in electronic music, three-time Grammy-nominated Si Green aka Bonobo will arrive in NZ off the back of his monster 2022 album, Fragments. Known for club-focused arrangements that incorporate influences of everything from jazz and folk to soul, house and UK garage, expect a dancefloor-angled set that shows the Coromandel how it’s truly done.
DJ SEINFELD
Swedish producer DJ Seinfeld makes his Aotearoa debut, arriving much like Bonobo after the release of his own hugely successful album, 2021’s Mirrors. Much of Seinfeld’s previous work was characterised by lo-fi production techniques, but this new album sees his music come into focus with thumping house beats, sunny synth pads, reflective piano melodies, and heart-tugging vocal samples.
BARRY CAN’T SWIM
Barry Can’t Swim has become one of the fastest rising names out of the UK since 2020. Signed to tastemaker record label Ninja Tune, Barry was picked as one of Billboard’s “10 Dance Artists to Watch in 2022”, featured in Pete Tong’s “Top 20 of 2021”, and was tipped as one of The Blessed Madonna’s “Ones to Watch for 2022”. Classically trained from a young age, Barry is known for his trademark blend of skillfully crafted electronic music mixed with jazz inspired strings and keys, lush textures, blissed-out vocal samples and euphoric, orchestral elements.
PRETTY GIRL
Pretty Girl, hailing from Naarm/Melbourne, makes emotionally loaded music to cry or dance to. Naarm’s prolific club scene has provided fertile ground for Pretty Girl to develop her sound, pairing delicate vocals with a sentient and warm-blooded breed of music that can stir a dancefloor as much as it can soundtrack a walk home.
PEACH MILK
Tāmaki Makaurau-based Peach Milk’s sets display broad influences ranging from dreamy and relaxed house to driving, percussive techno, breaks and everything in between. Expect the unexpected as she opens the show up for our international guests by laying the perfect foundation for them to spring from.
