ISLAND TIME INFORMATION

Held at the historic Te Pēhi o Manawatere, Home Bay, on Te Motutapu a Taikehu, this uniquely different event presents the opportunity for locals and visitors of Tāmaki Makaurau to EAT, DRINK and DANCE on a unique island setting this summer.

As part of the partnership between Endeavour Live and Te Haerenga o Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki portion of ticket sales will go towards the preservation of the island and it’s unique inhabitants (such as Takahē, Brown Kiwi, Tuturuatu, Tuturuwhatu, Kākāriki, Tīeke, Kawekaweau and many others). The official charity of Island Time on Motutapu is PROJECT KIWI.

The event also presents the opportunity for Aucklanders and visitors to gain a greater understanding of the island and its cultural significance for the region. Through the Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki partnership, there will be the opportunity for event attendees to learn about the history of the island in a fun and engaging way. The event is focused on delivering an economical and environmentally sustainable event for future generations to enjoy.

Island Time on Motutapu is a collaboration between ENDEAVOUR LIVE and TE HAERENGA O NGĀI TAI KI TĀMAKI, in association with AUCKLAND UNLIMITED.

GETTING THERE

There are 2 ways to get to Island Time on Motutapu. Either via your own boat, or via a Fullers Ferry.

TAKING YOUR OWN BOAT

If you are taking your own boat, please adhere to water safety guidelines. See below map which advises you on the location of Motutapu Island and where to moor your boat when you arrive. Make sure you purchase your Island Time Only Pass.

CATCH THE FULLERS FERRY

If coming by ferry, simply catch the ferry from PIER 1C at the Auckland Downtown Ferry Terminal, and enjoy the 30 minute Ferry ride over to Motutapu. Make sure you have purchased your Island Time + Ferry pass. And don't be late.


See all mobility parking options in Auckland City here. The downtown carpark on Customs street is the closest to the Auckland ferry terminal. With mobility parking, you can park there free for the first 2 hours then the usual rate of $2 an hour to a maximum of $10. It is also free after 6pm if you are attending the second session. What ticket do I need to purchase for Island Time?

Depends on how you plan on getting to the island?

In partnership with Fullers, we operate a return ferry service from Downtown Auckland ferry through to Home Bay and back. Simply choose the session you wish to attend and purchase your desired ticket.

 

BY FERRY

Each session has a dedicated return ferry service leaving from Downtown Auckland Ferry Terminal, taking you to Home Bay, Motutapu Island. At the conclusion of the session, the ferry takes you back to Downtown Ferry terminal. Simply choose which session you are after, and purchase your Island Time Pass + Ferry Ticket starting from $105+bf.

On the family friendly session on Sunday, you can purchase YOUTH (6-17) starting from $65+bf. We ask you to also select CHILD (Under 5 Free) ticket also if you are bringing anyone under 5 to help with capacity planning.

There are 2 sailings on Sunday, 11am or 12:30pm.

 

BY YOUR OWN BOAT

You can bring your own boat into Home Bay and attend Island Time on Motutapu. Simply choose which session you are after and purchase your Island Time Pass Only starting from $70+bf.

On the family friendly session on Sunday, you can purchase YOUTH (6-17) starting from $30+bf.


BRING CASH?

Because we are on Island, reception for our mobile eftpos may come down. We advise all attendees to bring cash in the event mobile reception goes down.

CAN WE CAMP ON MOTUTAPU DURING ISLAND TIME?

No unfortunately, not this year. Hopefully with the success of this event, their will be the option in the future. The campground will not be open during the dates of the event.

CAN WE BRING OUR CHILDREN OR BABIES?

Yes but only to Session Whā on the Sunday is the kid-friendly session. The Friday and Saturday sessions are strictly R18.

CAN I BRING OUR JETSKI?

For water safety reasons, Jet Ski's will not be permitted into Home Bay during the event.

CAN WE BRING CHILLY BINS INTO ISLAND TIME?

No. Each session is only 5 hours long, and we ask that you sample and support the food vendors on the Island. No food and beverage will be allowed on the island. This is also a Bio-Security issue so we thank you for your understanding.

On Saturday, February 27 2021, arrive by ferry (or your own boat) to the stunning island location of Home Bay on Motutapu Island.

Enjoy the region’s bounty in the form of great food and drink from a range of producers, while you dance away to local bands and DJs.

The event also presents the opportunity for attendees to soak up the history of Motutapu, learn from the local Iwi around the heritage of the island, while also contributing towards the safe upkeep of local resident Takahē, Brown Kiwi, Tuturuatu (Shore plover), Kakariki and more.

Island Time on Motutapu is a collaboration between Endeavour Live and Ngāi Tai - Te Haerenga (visit website), in association with Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), and is proud to be part of Summernova (visit website).

The event hopes to instill pride amongst all visitors to the island and encourage them to learn and discover more about the cultural identity of Motutapu and the surrounding region, while enjoying a uniquely fun, safe and entertaining environment.
